Last Saturday evening after delivering leaflets in sections of East Lewisham with Conservative PPC Jonathan Clamp and members of the team and young members of Conservative Future I felt it was time to test the waters in announcing my selection as a Conservative candidate in the Local Government election in May 2010.
After getting the go ahead and support of the executives I placed on face book, yes face book was where I announced it officially not sure that was the normal procedure but I wanted to gauge the initial reactions from my face book colleagues. Within hours the comments started to come in expressing their support and offering best wishes, plus kind words from even persons who are not Tory voters but wishing all the best in the upcoming elections.
I am ever so confident that political participation in the British political system is crucial to and is part of the answer in ensuring that all spheres of society has a voice and most important for those who are marginalised. My decision in entering politics is in seeking to advance the cause of the underclass and promote greater understanding and influence in the development of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in the British political system, but more importantly also,it is to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
As mentioned in my earlier writings I formed the view that there will be a decline of the BNP as people become sensitise to what they are about and be ready to ensure that they do not receive votes at the next Local and General Elections. But this can only be achieved by good people doing what is right in claiming ownership to the political system and not letting a few grasp hold of it for their own selfish gain. There is no need to vote out the BNP what we need to do is to vote in those who are genuine and with integrity and will do the best thing for the country.
“21st Century Britain will stop the rise of the British National Party” as more from diverse background are joining and laying hold to their heritage which many have struggled and fight for.
