A Work in Progress

Finally I have some time to  briefly update my blog and to send a quick note of appreciation and thanks to everyone who supported me during my election campaign for Councillor for Catford South and on my political journey which has just began. Unfortunately, I did not win the seat but I won on experience and this is far from the end. The  side entrance door may have closed but the front entrance is still open.

I will continue to work fervently towards the greater goal. I believe I have succeeded in many ways by opening up the political system to others who before had no understanding or wanted to understand more.

Many are a part of this journey through my regular FB status updates, on twitter and blogging. Thus, in  many ways the experience has enriched others to get more involved in the democratic process by voting and lending their voices and not being afraid of even expressing minority views against the odds.

It is clear and evident that the Conservative party has a lot of work to do in gaining trust within the black community which I believe is not an impossible task, but will be an uphill struggle. However , I flourish under challenges and I look forward to undertake pioneering work  in this area to start and continue that process which has just began and I trust this will be  under a Conservative lead Government supported by the Liberal Democratic Party.

Just the day before the election one of my constituent sent me a prayer to me…. “When God takes something from your grasp. He’s not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better”

Yes the Labour Party made an almost clean sweep of Lewisham council and I congratulate the opposing sides on their victory.

Finally, I do give credit to the awesome experience and the great people I met along the way. I will call this a ” Work in Progress” watch the space this is just the start and as I always say “the sky is the start”

Congratulations, well done! There will be many more opportunities to serve and lead mate. I’m sure this is just the beginning rather than the end. I’m very proud of your achievements and I am loking forward to much more. Thank you.

Congratulations on constantly updating us on your position which in turn led us to accept the power of the social media as a persuasive tool as well as to truly understand the role of communication in the determination of our fate. Even those of us living outside of the UK became more aware of life as a young politician. You may just have inspired quite a few young uns’ Syl.

Congrats on a powerful, positive outlook and an inspiration to many. I too am confident that we will hear more about you in the political future of your choice.
